Faith in Motion

Faith held a congregational meeting in the summer of 2013 to work on a vision statement. Out of that meeting grew our Vision Committee who met for several months praying over and gathering information on where God would lead us to serve.

After considering a dozen proposals from the committee, it was decided unanimously to bring one vision to the congregation for a vote at our quarterly Voters' Assembly in Oct. of 2013. Faith had become acquainted with the Riverside County Faith in Motion group which connects faith based organizations with supporting foster care children and families.

The following is the vision statement the committee proposed to the congregation and which was unanimously adopted:

“Guided by God’s Holy Spirit,

Faith Lutheran Church’s vision

is to reach our community effectively with the Gospel of Jesus Christ

by supporting families and children impacted by abuse and neglect,

and giving them hope so they will know God's loving Grace.”

This ministry emphasis consists of reaching out to serve foster children, foster families and social workers in ways such as:

  • "Adopting" foster children to pray for each Sunday for God to bring them their forever family
  • "Adopting" a social worker by praying for them each Sunday
  • Giving birthday gifts to foster care children in Riverside County each month (we average 12 children a month)
  • Giving Christmas gifts to foster care children (we gave over 250 Beanie Babies away in Dec. 2013 and 165 in Dec. 2014)!
  • Sending counselors to a Foster Kids Camp each summer in the mountains

It is our prayer that you will join us in sharing God's love with "the least of these" (Matt. 25:40) as well!
